I am Lukas Kelly, I have a studio based in Matakana, Auckland, New Zealand that also acts as my design space – Busy Design Co. Since childhood I've had a fascination with ancient cultures, symbolism, patterns and how they interact with our thoughts and perceptions. Through daily life, my creative worlds ebb and flow between design, music and the arts. More recently focused on telling stories through wood carvings, prints and objects that emulate a sense of meditation and reflection. You'll find me most days tutu'ing away with creative projects, surfing and enjoying Aotearoa, New Zealand for its inherent beauty and freedom.

Crossing Divides is an exploration of geometry, symbols, light, sound and shape to activate a sensory response, allowing space for the mind to focus and inspire personal creativity and expansion. The artwork is inspired by universal art forms using the language of frequencies in sound, light and shape. Via structured patterns and forms they activate and seduce
the brain out of the busy mind and into expanded consciousness. It’s about combining different forms that stimulate harmonic tones to bring about vibrational resonance to our physical form, reconnecting us to our senses to bring us back to our center in a more grounded and present way.

Today I’m celebrating the recent acquisition of my ‘Convergence’ artwork to the Wallace Art Trust. It was a pleasure to host and meet Sir James Wallace at my recent exhibit. We got chatting about the significance of this piece for me, of intertwining worlds and the deeper concepts around my work. I’m humbled to know this artwork will be housed in his collection here in Auckland and hold its permanence in a space of beauty, history and creativity.
